I’ve learned that gift-giving is truly an art. You become better at it with practice, age and wisdom.

If you’ve been with the same person for a while, finding new gift ideas can get harder year after year. Even though my husband and I have only been in each other’s lives for four years, I already find it difficult to come up with an awesome gift.

My husband works in the construction industry, so he is very hands-on and mechanical. He enjoys working with cars and motorcycles. Also, he absolutely loves nature and outdoor activities, including camping, hiking, hunting, and climbing.

Gifts for adventurous guys

The following list is a comprehensive guide on gifts for adventurous guys. I have purchased many of these gifts for my husband and he approves. Click images for links to Amazon.

1. Garmin Instinct, Rugged Outdoor Watch

The Garmin Instinct has it all. Features include GPS, heart rate monitoring, a compass, and trackback. We often use his watch when we’re hiking to monitor the length of our hike and route. My husband uses it a lot when he’s hunting to navigate his way back to certain areas.

It comes in an array of colors, but I chose the classic graphite color. This is a timeless, classic piece for an outdoor man. Some Garmin watches can break the bank, but the Garmin Instinct is a little more reasonable cost-wise.

2. Vasque Hiking Boots

Not all hiking boots are created equal. The Vasque Breeze III GTX hiking boots are made of Gore-tex and are waterproof and breathable. The brown olive and bungee combo color go well with everything. These boots are wonderful for hiking and the outdoors.

My husband is pretty rough on all of his shoes. His previous pair of hiking boots started breaking down in less than a year. His Vasque boots are still going strong since last Christmas. The style is so aesthetically pleasing that I ended up buying Vasque women’s hiking boots and they are my favorite boots by far.

3. Oakley Holbrook Polarized Sunglasses

This is a recent 2020 Christmas gift for my husband, so I can’t expand on how much he likes it so far. I just know that he snatched my only pair of Oakleys and has been wearing them for our entire relationship, so I thought this would be a good gift for him.

I did hours of research on sunglasses and finally settled on the polarized Holbrook, which is one of Oakley’s classics. It comes in regular and XL sizes and has many color options. I chose the classic matte black frame with the Prism grey lens.

I also got him the official Oakley sunglasses case to protect them. So far, the sunglasses look great. I tried them on and really like them for me as well, so they are a great gift for men and women.

4. Patagonia Better Sweater 1/4 Zip Fleece

Any piece of clothing from Patagonia is going to be top-notch, but I’ve found that the Better Sweater 1/4 zip fleece is a wonderful gift. It’s so wonderful that I’ve gifted it twice to my husband over the years, once in red and again in gray.

The overall look is effortlessly classy. I like that he can wear it out camping or to a nice family dinner, it’s that versatile. Also, they are less than $100 and keep up well. They have gone through many washes and still look new. If you’re thinking of getting one, I usually purchase from REI or Backcountry.

5. Versace Pour Homme Cologne

Every adventurous, outdoor man needs to smell great, right? I hardly give cologne as a gift because I find that scents are very personal. They can also mix differently with your body chemistry and pheromones, so one scent can be different from person to person.

When I purchased this cologne, I mostly went through reviews and over 90% of them were positive. I ordered it online and wasn’t able to test it out beforehand. It turns out my husband really loves it.

6. Massage and Muscle Therapy Gun

The hype is real on this product. This was actually a gift from my husband to me this year, but since he uses it as much as I do, I thought I would add it to the list.

The massage gun comes with several attachments for big muscles, tendons, joints, and the spine. Each one is pretty amazing and helps with muscle tenderness. The gun itself is lightweight and cordless.

I purchased a back and neck pillow massager for my husband last year, which was just okay. It doesn’t have the cordless option, so we have to be near an electrical outlet to use it, which is sometimes inconvenient. This massage gun is so much better.

7. Portable Tabletop Gas Grill

We received this as a Christmas gift from my husband’s brother last year. Initially, we didn’t think we would use it that much because we have a camp stove for cooking. Over time, we started using our Blue Rhino flattop grill and it’s now our primary stove for camp cooking.

I like that we can cook an entire meal on one surface without the need for different pots or pans. It’s very easy to clean at the end of a meal. Most tabletop grills have grease cups that catch oil, food, and residue for easy cleaning. Also, we can use a larger propane tank instead of a small green propane tank.

8. Marmot Trestles 15 Sleeping Bag

This sleeping bag works wonderfully, but won’t break the bank. It’s a 15 degree sleeping bag. We’ve used it in cold temps as low as 30 degrees and it stayed pretty comfortable and warm.

The recommended use for this bag is regular camping, but we have taken it on a backpacking trip. It weighs 3.5 pounds. There is also a women’s Trestle 15 sleeping bag if you want to match your beau. And yes, I do have it and it’s great! I purchased both of our bags at Backcountry but they are also available at other retailers.

9. Carhartt Beanie

These are classic and great gifts for adventurous guys or gals. They are awesome for stocking stuffers or Valentine’s day. They are fashionable, warm, and long-lasting. My husband uses his for warmth during camping trips or going to work early in the morning.

They come in a huge variety of colors and sizes, including kids and toddler sizes. We’ve owned our Carhartt beanies for several years now, and they still look new.

10. Electric Toothbrush

This electric toothbrush is a great, affordable gift for your adventurous guys or gals. I gifted this to my husband last year for Christmas and the toothbrush still works great after one year. The replacement brushes are very affordable.

The best thing about this toothbrush is that it holds a charge for several days, or long enough to take it on a weekend trip without having to pack the charger. We have taken our toothbrushes with us on many weekend trips, including camping, without a problem.

11. Samsung Earbuds

This is a perfect gift for Samsung users and active, adventurous individuals. It syncs perfectly with all Samsung phones and stays in your ears during the day, even during a workout.

In addition, more and more states are requiring headsets for telephone use while driving, which is great for safety. Often, my husband will call on his way home from work or from a weekend trip, and these earbuds sound crystal clear.

12. Benchmade knife

A Benchmade knife is one of the coolest gifts for adventurous guys. This steel knife will last your outdoorsy guy or gal a lifetime and also comes with a lifetime warranty.

Benchmade knives are manufactured in Oregon and offer a wide selection of high-performance knives ranging from everyday carry to hunting and tactical.

My husband received a Benchmade knife for Christmas last year and uses it for everyday carry. It’s definitely fancy and tops any list of gifts for adventurous guys.

13. Yeti Rambler

These stainless steel, vacuum insulated Yeti mugs are amazing as gifts for adventurous guys. They are perfect for Valentine’s Day, Father’s Day, or Christmas.

My husband uses his mug on his daily commute. We also get great use out of them for our morning cups of coffee when we camp.

Gifts for adventurous guys or gals

I hope this list gives you ideas for gifts for adventurous guys or gals. As you can tell, I enjoy a lot of these products as much as my husband.

Prior to purchasing gifts, I tend to do a lot of research into other products and reading reviews, so this list is top-notch for quality, budget, and usability. Hope you like it!
